Operation Toy Train to Stop in Hancock on December 7
Residents Encouraged to Donate Toys in Advance to Support Local Children
HANCOCK, NY — Operation Toy Train will roll into Hancock on Sunday, December 7, stopping at the Hancock Town Square - near old Erie Railroad Station from 1 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. The event is part of the larger regional initiative sponsored by the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway, Operation Toy Train, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
Operation Toy Train’s mission is to collect more than 40,000 new toys across 69 towns in five states, including stops in nearby Callicoon, Hancock, and Narrowsburg. Over 480 miles of track and ten railroads will participate in this effort, with each company donating trains, crews, and time to help make the holidays brighter for children in need.
At the Hancock stop, residents and visitors are invited to bring new, unwrapped toys in their original packaging for donation. All collected toys will be delivered to the local Toys for Tots Foundation for distribution to children and families in Delaware County.
In addition to the toy collection, attendees can enjoy holiday music, community spirit, and a visit from Santa Claus, who will be greeting families as the train arrives.
Advance toy donations are also being accepted at several local drop-off sites, coordinated by the Hancock Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with local businesses such NBT Bank, SFCU Credit Union, Bisbee Lumber & Supply, the Hancock Herald, and Strength Brokerage. These locations will be announced on www.hancockny.org, www.hancock-newyork.com and www.hancockpartners.org, the Hancock APP and all the Hancock Area Facebook pages in the coming days.
“Operation Toy Train represents the best of small-town spirit — neighbors helping neighbors to ensure every child experiences the joy of the holidays,” said Richard H. Lowe, III, Director of Economic Development for the Hancock Partners. “We’re proud to host this stop and encourage everyone to donate early and join us trackside on December 7th at 1PM.”
